Device Manager

     Device Manager is a program within Windows that allows you to access your hardware. With Device Manager you can check for errors, install\uninstall hardware, disable hardware, or install\update hardware drivers. This tool is generally going to be used whenever you are dealing with hardware issues.


Accessing Device Manager

Accessing Device Manager in Windows XP

1: Click on the Start button.
2: Click on Control Panel or Settings then Control Panel.
3: Click on Performance and Maintenance then click on System or just clikc on System.
4: Inside of System Properties click on the Hardware tab.
5: Click on the Device Manager button.

Accessing Device Manager in Windows Vista and 7

1: Click on the Start button.
2: Click on Control Panel.
3: Click on the Performance and Maintenance.
4: Click on the Device Manager.

Accessing Device Manager in Windows 8

1: Open the Charm Menu (Widnows+C key).
2: Click on Search.
3: In the search box type in Device Manager.
4: Click on Device Manager in the search list.

Using Device Manager

     Using Device Manager is pretty simple. YOu can double-click on an item to bring up a Properties box or you can right-click on an item to bring up a menu where you can go into properties, enable\disable a device, or install updated drivers.
