Administrative Tools

     Administrative Tools is a set of programs that help you manage and troubleshoot your version of Windows. With these tools you can do things like check error message or set limitations on what users can do with your computer. There are many different programs within the Administrative Tools and this article will only mention the most common of them. Please note that what programs you have accessible to you can depend on what version of Windows you are running.

     This article will cover how to access your Administrative Tools in Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8 and also cover the Computer Management, Event Viewer. and Services programs within the Administrative Tools tool suite.

Accessing Administrative Tools in Windows XP

1: Click on the Start button.
2: Click on Control Panel or click on Settings then Control Panel.
3: Click on Administrative Tools or click on Performance and Maintenance then click on Administrative Tools.

1: Click on the Start button.

1: Click on the Start button.
2: Click on Control Panel.
3: Click on System and Security.
4: Click on Administrative Tools.

1: Click on the Charms Menu.
2: Click on the Settings Charm.
3: Click on Settings.
4: Set the Show Administrative Tools option to Yes.
5: Swipe or scroll over to the System Tools tiles on your desktop.

Administrative Tools Tool Suite

     There are many different programs and tools in the Administrative Tools that can help you manage or troubleshoot your computer. This article will only mention a few of the programs or tools within Administrative Tools. We will briefly cover the Computer Management, Event Viewer. and Services tools.

Computer Management - This tool allows you to manage various aspects of your computer. You can manage and check the Event Viewer logs, check the Device Manager, and do harddisk maintenance with this tool.

Event Viewer - You can view various system and application messages in this tool. If you want more information on what caused Windows to crash then this tool will help you out.

Services - This tool allows you to modify the startup and shutdow of various services that are running when your computer has booted into Windows.
