Duck Hunt review by Tyson

Overall

Pass

Duck Hunt is a unique game but sadly its gameplay is lacking. There isn't enough conent for a weekend rental so I would suggest on passing on this game.

Gameplay

Duck Hunt is a pretty simple game. The game is based around shooting ducks or shooting clay pigeons. What makes this more unique is instead of using the standard NES controller you are using the NES Zapper light gun attachement. The light gun brings some problems to the game though. There was many times where even though I was aiming clearly at an object that the gun wouldn't pick it up. Thankfully though the gun worked a majority of the time.

Sadly there isn't much to do in the game. You have 2 duck shooting modes and 1 clay pigeon mode. Each mode plays pretty much the same but with either ducks or pigeons. You have 3 shots to shoot at one or more ducks or 2 clay pigeons. In order to clear a round you will need to shoot enough ducks or pigeons. I havent been able to see any limit to the number of rounds you can play but some internet research mentions up to 99. This is one of those games that you just play for a high score and I found this kind of boring.

Control

The biggest issue about the control here is how well the light gun will work on your tv. On my tv the light gun worked a majority of the time so I was able to get a good gameplay experience out of it. Though hte times when the gun didn't work it made the game super frustrating. The NES controller is generally just used to move through the games main menu.

Graphics

Well I found the dog, ducks, and clay pigeons to look good but everything else wasn't all that great. There are only 2 whole backgrounds in the game and honestly seeing the same background over and over again just gets boring.

Sound

The audio in Duck Hunt is fairly average. I found the various audio jingles to be okay and some sound effects like the gun shot is good but then I really hated the dogs laugh.
