Donkey Kong 3 review by Tyson

Overall

Pass

I think its safe to pass on this game. While it is fun at times there just isn't much to do. With a few minutes of play you will have experienced pretty much everything the game has to offer.

Gameplay

There isn't a whole lot I can say about the gameplay here. You play as a character named Stanley who is shooting bug spray at Donkey Kong since Donkey Kong is shaking up beehives to anger bees to come steal your flowers. In order to beat a level you need to shoot Donkey Kong to the top of the screen while avoiding bees, worms, and other bug like enemies.

To further make the repetition worse the game only have 3 stages. So you end up playing the same stages over and over again. The only changes that occur is how fast the enemies move and some new enemies do show up from time to time.

Control

Control wise Donkey Kong 3 isn't too bad. You move with the directional pad and shoot with the buttons so its an easy to use setup. I really don't have anything bad to say about this portion of the game.

Graphics

Donkey Kong 3 is an average game in terms of the graphics. Everything takes place on just one screen and there is no scrolling. Each of the 3 stages has some foliage designs but most of the screen is pretty empty. The game does do a good job of having a lot of enemies on screen which is nice.

Sound

The sound is pretty average as well. None of the background music really had me humming it in my head or anything like other NES games. Sadly Donkey Kong really has no sound effects to him besides him shaking up the beehives. The gun you use makes a good sounding noise though.
